LST-95 Badlands “Slow Growth” cassette tape
Badlands is the musical project of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Adrian Chi Tenney from Los Angeles, CA. “Slow Growth” is ten songs about growth, change, love, recovery and resilience. Tenney intends to use her layered vocals and instruments to create mysterious, haunting harmonies and soundscapes inspired by environmental and political landscapes. This is the second full length album for Badlands, the first on Lost Sound Tapes, and is the follow up to the 2013 album “So Little”. The album title is quite appropriate as many of these songs are filled with layers that build up over time in addition to the lyrical content that explores social justice issues, resistance, introspection, and healing. The most powerful track on the album is "Work To Do” which touches on examples of racism present in our culture today, and shows how much work we still have to do, both privately and publicly, to dismantle it. On this album is also a Donna Summer cover, the song "I Feel Love", which acts as a radical mantra of self love and confidence.

Edition of 100 translucent blue cassette tapes with hand stamped labels and full color artwork. Comes with a digital download.

CD released on Adrian Tenney’s own Bite The Cactus imprint.

I was immediately hooked on Deadbeat Beat as soon as I discovered their music over the summer. Had the privilege to see them live back in Sept (2019). Lovely, dreamy melodies and harmonies.
